global TVC with live action and CG integration
Working with Mark Roberts motion control (mrmoco) and the mill London I conceptualised and directed this TVC for global reach. the opening shot from CGI macro to a full wide of the room was fun, with multiple moco passes for product lighting and piecing in the room where the track for the rig was.
global LAUNCH FILM with live action and CG integration
FROM STORYBOARD AND DIRECTORS TREATMENT THEN DIRECTING THE SHOOT AND CGI THROUGH TO EDIT, GRADE AND DELIVERY ON THIS PIECE OF STORYTELLING FOR THE BEAUTY CATEGORY. PRODUCED AND SHOOT ENTIRELY DURING COVID LOCKDOWN.
High speed live action for social campaign - 7.7M views
stretching a tight budget to capture some magic moments and get 7.7 million views! A very hands-on shoot with great collaboration between the art and camera departments, I directed, shot and edited this highly successful social piece.
live action for social campaign
a hands-on task to come up with the best way to demonstrate this products performance. my solution? Shoot from under the floor!
documentary
working with the head of communication to write this story then planning the shoot on the farm. pleasantly contrasted by several days shooting flora and fauna b-roll on the estate. The reactions to this film in the comments section of Youtube are an amazing tribute to my efforts.
live action/cg integration and ultra high speed for TVC
shooting live action handovers for pre-existing cg elements to save budget on this tvc. I also developed the technique for capturing the interaction between the spinning brushbar and the dust on the floor completely in camera, saving weeks of cg work.
social campaign shot on iPhone
choosing to keep the bigger cameras in the store room and shoot on iPhone for the look and feel of UGC for a series of instagram reels, while maintaining a nod to the established production values of the brand.
live action for social campaign
it's what you don't see that makes it look simple. I did a lot of testing to show the dirt being left behind in a home environment and the backlit shiny floor was by far the best. however the world outside the window was very over-exposed in relation to the action. the solution? Three stops of ND on the windows!
YouTube film for product launch
for each shot that made the edit there were around 80 outtakes where the balloon did its own thing! a masterclass in perseverance and a whole lot of fun.
stop frame animated online piece
a quirky approach makes for a charming film about an otherwise dry story. working with highly acclaimed animators and riggers, and a very knowledgable DOP was a joy and a privilege.
Timelapse growing sequences
for the macro shots of strawberries coming to fruition I set up a hydroponic growing system in the studio for around 50 plants. 6 computer controlled Timelapse setups, some with motion control, shot a frame every 10 minutes for a period of 4 months capturing this world-first glimpse into the life of the strawberry.
product demo with sun Timelapse, live action and cg elements
a film all about sunlight required... the sun! so off I went to ibiza for this product demo. while directing the mainstay of the film inside the location I ran a second unit on the roof for the shot of the sun from dawn till dusk. troubleshooting, honing and reshooting every day for a week before capturing that totally unique shot of the sun's path across the clear blue sky.
product case study
directing a small crew so we didn't bother the guests of the rosewood, a premium London hotel. an exercise in stealthy filmmaking.
TVC
repurposing existing footage and adding in the moving graph line over live action and in the product display.
